Hommel Hope Week is Here!

Continuing a legacy of EISD support.
Hommel student, Cantrell Rudison chose to portray Dr. Curtis Amos (former EISD superintendent) as his project for the campus black history celebration. When Pauletha Amos, widow of Dr. Curtis Amos, heard about the project, she was touched and requested to meet Cantrell and even offered to bring him lunch.
At the meeting, the two went over Cantrell’s project as Mrs. Amos shared personal stories from college and Dr. Amos’s life. When Mrs. Amos asked what Cantrell wanted to be, he responded with a smile, “I want to be a doctor”, as if there were any other answer. Without missing a beat, Mrs. Amos referred to him as Dr. Cantrell for the rest of the visit and told him that she would be checking in on his progress towards that goal.
In a time when our heroes can feel so removed from our daily lives, Mrs. Amos made a real connection between a young man and a larger than life local legend. Mrs. Amos said that she knew Dr. Amos was smiling down on his EISD family!
Mrs. Amos, we can not thank you enough for your continued support and care for the students of Everman ISD.

Hommel 5th graders got to select their elective classes for middle school next year! Many of our students were excited to see Ms. Moratto, their foemer home room teacher, who is now a counselor at Baxter Middle School!
