Everman ISD’s Health Initiative

Everman ISD 2023-2024 Health Letter

Everman ISD is committed to providing a comprehensive wellness program for
EISD students. The District is committed to providing school environments that
promote and protect children’s health, well being and ability to learn by
supporting healthy eating and physical activity. Many policies such as FFA
(Legal and Local) and BDF (Legal) and a variety of practices have been put in
place to ensure that our students are given the opportunity to lead healthy lives.

The following are examples of the district’s efforts:

Physical Activity in Grades K - 8
Physical Activity in Grades K – 4

Elementary age students participate in a structured physical education program 4

taught by a certified physical education teacher. Additionally, students are given
recess time to play outside when weather permits.

Physical Activity in Grades 5 – 6

Students at Dan Powell Intermediate participate in physical education classes
each day for 57 minutes. The classes are taught by certified physical education
teachers.

Physical Activity in Grades 7 – 8

Junior high students participate in either a 45 minute daily physical education
class or a 1 ½ hour daily athletic class. Both physical education and athletic
classes are taught by certified physical education teachers.

council comprised of various EISD stakeholders for the purpose of reviewing
